Heritage Overlay

SKT Building Designs has extensive experience in all planning overlays and in particular, Heritage overlay. We will speak with you in regards to the Heritage overlay on your subject site and any specific design guidelines that may be imposed by your local council. With SKT Building Designs you will be informed of how the overlay will affect your specific design and, along with your design brief, a concept/ sketch design will be produced with a realistic expectation of obtaining council approval.

What is a Heritage Overlay

Heritage overlay is enforced when local council has determined the existing structure has a heritage significance and needs to be protected. When making alterations to an existing heritage structure a careful balance needs to be considered between conserving elements of significance while still achieving all of the clients desires.

I employed Shannon Treloar at SKT Building Designs to work on a subdivision for me where we were required to provided architectural plans, and building reports to the council for the purposes of obtaining permits for the subdivision. Shannon took care of everything for me. The Council were quite picky and difficult to deal with until Shannon took over.
